| 1. The Greek noun is characterised by:

THE NOUN: First Declension Feminine and Masculine
|
| Most nouns of the First Declension are feminine; |
| a few awkward ones are masculine.
|
| For Feminine Nouns:
|
| when the last letter of the stem is a consonant the ending is in -h , |
| after a vowel or r the last letter is -a , |
| and, more rarely, |
|
| The awkward First Declension Masculine Nouns end in: |
|
-hj, -hn, -ou (here cf: the genitive of lo&goj) and h~|.
|
| A very few (the main one is neani/aj)
end in -aj after i.
|
|
Note the agreement of the Article with the GENDER of the noun.
